When using Duo, you may need to add a new phone to your account for any of the following reasons:
You get a new phone with a different phone number.
You want to have additional devices to use as back-ups (for example, you use your cell phone but want to have office phone available just in case).
You want to add the Duo Mobile app to a phone previously registered as a generic cell phone.
You got a phone with a different operating system than you previously had:
You used to have an iPhone, but now have a Windows phone or an Android.
You used to have an Android, but now have a Windows phone or an iPhone.
You used to have a Windows phone, but now you have an iPhone or an Android.
You have another device already associated with Duo, but you would like to have additional sign-in options.
Note: If you got a new phone, but kept the same phone number, and none of the other conditions above apply, you may want to see Reactivate Duo Mobile
To add a new phone:
Enroll/Manage Duo, and
Note: If you are already signed in, you will need to sign out before completing this step.
2. On the left of the sign-in page, select Add a new device.
Choose an authentication method (Send Me a Push,
Call Me, or
Enter a Passcode), and finish signing in.
*Note: If the reason you are adding a new phone is to activate Duo Mobile on a different phone, you will need to choose either Call Me or Enter a
Passcode (because Send Me a Push requires Duo Mobile).
**Note: If you cannot sign in to Duo (e.g. if the only device registered was a phone you no longer have and the phone number has changed), please
contact the Integrated Service Desk at 513-556–HELP (4357).
Select the type of device you are adding, then push
*Note: Since you are adding a phone, you will choose either
Mobile Phone or
**Note: Office phones are considered
5. Enter your phone number.
6. Check the box that says
This is the correct phone number.
7. Push Continue.
8. At this point, the instructions change depending on what type of phone you added:
If you added a Landline:
Call me. You will receive a call from (513) 558-4732.
Answer the phone.
An automated message will tell you to press any button on the phone to authenticate.
Press any button on the phone.
If you added a Mobile Phone:
Indicate the type of phone you added (iPhone,
Windows Phone, or
Other), and push
Note: If you are adding a smartphone, but do not want to download the Duo Mobile app, choose
C• If you added an
On your phone, download and install the app Duo Mobile.
On your computer, push I have Duo Mobile installed.
3. Choose whether you want to scan a QR code or receive an email:
D• If you choose to scan a QR code:
On your phone, open
Duo Mobile, tap the + button (On Android, it is a key AND a plus) at the top right.
Allow Duo Mobile to access your camera.
Scan the barcode that appears on your computer screen.
Note: Scanning the QR code will not work if:
You do not have internet access on your phone.
You are using your phone to sign up for Duo, rather than a computer, tablet, or other second device (You cannot use your phone to scan a
QR code that appears on your phone).
If you choose to
receive an email:
Or, have an activation link emailed to you instead.
Enter your email address into the box.
Open your email ON YOUR DEVICE.
Note: If you open the email on your computer or another device, it will not work. The email has to be opened on the device you are trying to connect to
Click on the link in your email.
If you added
Other you are finished!
