 Kaltura Desktop Recorder Overview and Launch Instructions

 Instructions and overview for launching the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder tool.

If you have not installed the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder tool, click HERE for instructions.


There are two ways to launch the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder tool.

1.   In Blackboard, by going to the My Media area and clicking on the Add New button and then click on Launch CaptureSpace.

 

 

 

2.   From your desktop or Start Menu (PC) or in the Applications folder (Mac), click on the Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder icon to launch the application.

       

 

Kaltura CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder Tool Menu Tabs

The menu tabs for the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder tool focus on recording options, easy access to the My Media library items, and selections for the camera, audio and location of recordings.

     

 
The Record Tab

The record tab allows you to choose from five different recording options available with the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder tool.

1.    Presentations and Lectures—Ability to record up to three different web camera inputs (on the Mac you can only choose one), while recording whatever is on your screen, and your voice.
 

 

2.  Screen—Allows the recording of whatever is on the screen or a selected portion of the screen along with your voice.
 

3.  Screen & Webcam—Allows the recording of whatever is on the screen or a selected portion of the screen along with your webcam video and your voice.

4.  Webcam—Records the audio and video from your webcam.

5.    Voice—Record only your voice

 

The Library Tab

The library tab allows you access to a listing of your previous recordings. You can launch the edit window to clip or trim audio and video from this tab. Easily see if video or audio has been uploaded into the My Media area in Blackboard.

 



 

 

The Settings Tab

The settings tab provides a convenient way to manage the CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder. You can

  Identify the folder location where your video files are stored before they are uploaded to the My Media area in Blackboard (we recommend the default folder).

 Select any webcam (and the recording quality) connected to your computer from the drop down list.

  Select any microphone connected to your computer from the drop down list and monitor the microphone level.

 

 

The Help Tab

The  help tab provides information version of CaptureSpace Desktop Recorder software that you are running. It has information in the collect logs to aid in troubleshooting any technical issues you may have with the software.
