 McAfee USB Encryption Access Issue

 For departments using the McAfee File McAfee File and Removable Media Protection service for USB drives, there is a known issue that can stop the password prompt.

Problem: Under certain circumstances, the McAfee File and Removable Media Protection password prompt does not appear after a previously encrypted USB drive is inserted into a PC or Mac. To correct this, you can launch the McAfee client directly by doing the following:

1.  Access your recently inserted USB drive on your computer by:
     For Windows:
       Access the recently inserted USB drive by clicking Start and select Computer. In the Computer window, you will see a list of all
       available drives, among these will be the USB drive. Once found, double click the drive to view its contents.
   
     For Mac:
       Access the recently inserted USB drive by Clicking File from the top menu and select New Finder Window. In the finder, you
       should see the usb drive listed in the left navigation user Devices and may be listed as “Untitled” or “No Name” depending on the
       manufacturer. Once found, click the drive to view its contents.

       

 

 

 

 

 

 

2.  Launch the McAfee removable media protection program by:
      
For Windows: Double click MfeEERM.exe
      
For MAC: Double click McAfee Removable Media Protection

      

3.  Once the McAfee Program is opened, the password prompt should appear:

      

Once the correct password is entered, the USB drive should be accessible.
