Change Email Address

This request is for users who have a Box at UC enterprise account and want to change their email address to another UC email address. The most common use case for this scenario is a student becoming an employee and needing their Box at UC account email changed to their employee address (or vice versa). To request for your Box at UC account to be deleted, you must submit a ticket with the UCIT Helpdesk by calling (513) 556-HELP (4357) or emailing Helpdesk@uc.edu.

 

Note: Users cannot change their primary email address. This is a policy set by the Box at UC administrator. By default, student primary emails are in the format of ‘username@mail.uc.edu’ and employee primary emails are in the format of ‘username@ucmail.uc.edu’. Email aliases, such as ‘firstname.lastname@uc.edu’ cannot be the primary email in Box, but can be used as an additional email address (see Add Additional Email Addresses).

 

Add Additional Email Addresses

Employee Email Aliases

Employee (Staff/Faculty) and affiliate email addresses (UCMail) have a few aliases that users may want to add to their Box at UC account. The advantage of doing this is that Box at UC users can collaborate with any UC email alias, such as ‘firstname.lastname@uc.edu’ or ‘username@uc.edu’. This makes allows the employee to specify a preferred email address for Box invitations.

 

Student Email Addresses

Some employees or affiliates may have student email addresses if they take classes at the university. These users may want to add the student email address to their Box at UC account as an additional email address, especially if they use Box at UC for school purposes.

 

Note: If a student becomes a faculty or staff member, they may need to contact the UCIT Helpdesk to have their primary email address changed to their new employee email address. Not doing so can cause login issues to the Box at UC account. The student email address can be later set as an additional email address.

 

External Email Addresses

Students, employees and affiliates have the ability to add external email addresses, such as Yahoo or Gmail. However, this action is recommended only if a Box at UC user plans to opt-out of Box at UC and downgrade to a personal account with that external email. Adding Additional Email Address

To add an additional UC email alias to a Box account, navigate to the Box Account Settings.

      

 

Then navigate to Login and Email Addresses and select Add more emails to add additional email addresses to your account.

      

 

Enter the email address (or alias) you want to add and then click Save.

      

 

Box will send you an email confirmation to the specified email address. Click on Verify Email to confirm the address and to complete the process.
