 Respondus LockDown Browser and Monitor

Respondus Lockdown Browser (RLDB) and Monitor is a custom web browser that students can use to securely complete an online test in Blackboard.

Respondus Lockdown Browser (RLDB) is a custom web browser that students can use to securely complete an online test in Blackboard. Tests that require Respondus Lockdown Browser cannot be opened in a standard web browser, like Internet Explorer, Safari, Firefox or Chrome. RLDB can be used with or without Respondus Monitor.

Respondus Monitor (RM) is an additional tool for instructors using RLDB. RM uses a student's webcam to record him or her while taking an exam from a remote location. This helps to recreate the environment that exists in the classroom where students are asked to use only those materials approved by their instructor. This system also verifies student identity via photo identification and uses the webcam to scan the physical environment to discourage anyone other than the authorized student from completing the exam.
